Chanel recently reformulated their lip gloss with a new formula called Rouge Coco Gloss ($30 each for 5.5 g/0.19 oz, made in France). This is a new and improved version that offers more hydration with a glossier finish and plump feel. As a long-time Glossimer fan I was a bit sad to see the original formula go but since Chanel has revamped a number of other products in their line I think it was inevitable to see a new gloss formula. The new Rouge Coco Glosses have two different formulas, most are a regular lip gloss formula Gel Brilliant Hydrantant / Moisturizing Glossimer, but three shades are what Chanel calls Top Coat Intense / Colour-Intensifying Top Coat designed to layer over lipstick to change color. There are 30 shades of Rouge Coco Gloss total for the initial launch. At a quick glance there are at least a few that seem to be repromotes (but with different names). We’re in the midst of working on a few remodels which will take some time so much of my makeup is stored boxes so I won’t be able to do swatch comparisons for old vs new. I received 8 shades as press samples and purchased 8 […]

Dec 27, 2013 - The Chanel spring collection has two new glossimers in Sonate #178, a bright sheer red pink and Murmure #179, a lighter soft pink ($29.50 each). The two new spring shades seem like familiar colors with similarities to other previously released glossimers, but I really like both shades. They have a slightly richer pigment compared to other shades giving a healthy fresh glow. Sonate #178 is a sheer muted red pink. It gives the lips a healthy tint of red mixed with pink and brightens the whole face. The color is layerable for more coverage but is still semi-transparent. Murmure #179 is a light milky pink. It has a slight hint of warmth to prevent it from looking too bubblegum-like. I thought this would be a repeat of Sirop (discontinued), however Murmure is pinker and slightly darker. Comparisons to Dior Diablotine (review here), Tom Ford Peach Absolut (swatched here), Burberry Mallow Pink (swatched here), Chanel Sirop (discontinued), Chanel Volupte, Chanel Calypso (discontinued) and Chanel Nakkar (discontinued, reviewed here). I give both a huge thumbs up. Chanel spring is out on counters now. I purchased the spring collection items from Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Affiliate Links

When everybody else seems to be flaunting tinted lip balms and novel new lip pigments, Chanel has chosen instead to release a whole new class of lip glosses. The Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer is a classic in the Chanel makeup repertoire, and one that long-time fans (myself included) have relied on time and time again. It was quite a shock to many of us to see that the entire range has been discontinued, and it is interesting to see how much better the new Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss can get! Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss is formulated with skin-loving ingredients to make your lips healthier and smoother with continued use.  Natural jojoba, sunflower and mimosa waxes, and coconut extract help to keep the lips moisturized and shiny.  Volumnizing Peptides and Vitamin E plump up the lips and keep lines and wrinkles away. In addition to the lip-loving formula, the new Chanel Rouge Coco Glosses also pack more pigment within.  Whilst not as opaque as the Rouge Allure Glosses [reviewed here], the colors are noticeably more intense than the previous Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer.  The finish is also more gel-like, using film-formers and translucent glass beads to give a glossy shine rather than shimmers… there are still some of my beloved shimmery […]

Jul 3, 2016 - There’s a new lipstick formula from Chanel called the Rouge Coco Stylo ($37 each for 2 g/0.07 oz) which comes in a slim twist-up tube that’s described as having “the intensity of a lipstick, the shine of a lipgloss and comfort of a lip balm.” It truly is a three-in-one kind of lipstick. These have medium to full pigment – coverage is a lot better than the Rouge Coco Shines and just as much pigment as the Rouge Coco Lipsticks. Out of all the Chanel lipstick formulas I’ve tried the new Rouge Coco Stylos are definitely the most creamy in texture and most hydrating in feel. There is a soft floral scent to these similar to the Rouge Coco lipsticks. The formula is quite amazing and all the colors are knock out beautiful. There’s a tiny bit of shimmer in the tubes, but on the lips it’s very subtle. You mostly see color and shine. There are neutral and bright colors in the mix, there are eight shades total: Conte 202 is a baby pink with golden shimmer Article 204 is a bright warm tangerine with a vibrant finish Histoire 206 is a bright coral shade, on me it pulls […]
