Chanel Mademoiselle Privé Pique-Aiguilles watch nods to couture

Vintage Chanel Camellia Corsage crafted in silk with a pin back.. A salmon pink Vintage Chanel Camellia Corsage. Crafted in silk with a pin back. One of the most instantly recognisable emblems of this world-famous house the Camellia sports many guises, each unmistakeably synonymous with the brand. Mademoiselle Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel said, 'there are many ways to wear a flower' and the camellia was indeed the favourite flower of Coco Chanel. Immortalised as a code of the House of Chanel, evolving and taking reinterpretation in every collection. The camellia made its first discrete appearance in the history of Chanel in 1913. Worn by Coco Chanel as she strolled along Etretat beach in Normandy. An exotic flower, the camellia comes from a family of native Asian shrubs with shiny evergreen oval shaped leaves and luxuriantly blooming flowers. There are thought to be around 120 different varieties of camellia. With infinitely more couture interpretations of nature’s beautiful flower there is a longevity to this code that is as fresh and relevant in today's collections as it was in 1913. A symbol of carnal desire, camellias arrived in Europe in the mid 19th century, accentuating the beauty of both aristocratic and society women; flattering their decollates and adorning their hair. Chanel's interpretations of this flirtatious, seductive flower have incorporated as many materials as you can imagine including silk, organza, raffia, sequins, leather, chiffon, feathers and rhodoid - a type of thermoplastic made from cellulose acetate. The camellia motif can be seen in every facet of the House of Chanel from adorning hair, to fabrics, to intricate hairstyles, to makeup, accessories, packaging and so on. It has literally been woven into the DNA of the House; a true code that has lasted over 100 years thus far. In very good vintage condition, signed, approx. 6.8cms. This is a delicate floral piece from the House of Chanel and would require careful wear and storage to preserve current condition and look. A stunning pop of colour for a special occasion perhaps with this heritage Chanel piece. Should you choose to buy from us, we commit to the item being as described. Your vintage costume jewellery will arrive beautifully packaged and presented, helping to preserve your one of a kind piece. Please take a read through our information below and of course, don't hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.
