After Chanel’s death in 1971, several of her assistants designed the couture line as well as the ready-to-wear line launched in 1978. They continued to do so until Karl Lagerfeld took over the haute couture design in 1983 and later the ready-to-wear in 1984. The Chanel Creations label was retired upon Karl’s arrival and from what I can research it was only launched upon Gabrielle’s death for that ready to wear line. This is a fantastic Chanel knit cardigan made from a wool that feels like it has just a touch of mohair in it so that it has a wonderful soft and cozy feel. This is classic Chanel and instantly recognizable as being from the house with its gold logo buttons running down the front. It is the kind of piece that will never go out of style. I
